Description
What is packing media?
Packing media are sheets, blocks, or parts made of PVC or PP which totally resistant against chemical agents, alcohols, acids, greases, oils, fats and biologic materials. They are durable and are made in two types of fixed packing media and floating packing media. The geometric arrangement of the packing surface increases the ratio of surface to volume. Packings have a variety of uses in various industries including water and wastewater, refinery and petrochemicals, ventilation and more.
Farab Zist Faraz Engineering Co. manufactures all kinds of media packages including fixed media and suspended media.
Applications of Packing Media are as follows:
1- In the wastewater treatment industry to increase the level of biological reservoirs and reduce the dimensions of the reservoirs and increase the efficiency of biological treatment.
2- Biological removal of nitrate from drinking water.
3- Removing ammonia from fish farms and increasing its capacity.
4- Liquid and gas contact towers.
5- Degassing towers.
6- Cooling towers.
High quality PVC or PP media can be used for various applications in wastewater treatment. Requiring high-level surfaces such as SAFF, thick filters (especially for beverage wastewater treatment), fixed anaerobic filters, anaerobic contact filters, UASBR and more. The special advantage of this packing media is that it creates a very high surface area, resistant to chemicals and water, edge-to-edge folding, easy support, easy installation and other benefits.
Fixed packing media usage
The use of adherent growth processes in aerobic and anaerobic systems by stabilizing the microorganisms on the packings and biofilm formation increases the number of microorganisms adhering and suspending, which reduces the size of biological reservoirs and increases the efficiency of treatment. In fact, packing increases surface over volume. The use of fixed packing media in biological reactors while increasing the capacity and purification efficiency is increasing the process resistance to hydraulic, organic and toxic shocks. Other benefit of packing is reduction of escaping useful sludge. One of the most important benefits of using Peking in biological treatment is the reduction of the dimensions of the tanks and the reduction of construction costs.
Use of Packing Media in Biological Treatment
Packing is used in the water and wastewater industry for:
1) Increase the capacity and efficiency of wastewater treatment processes.
2) Upgrading the capacity and increasing the efficiency of existing treatment plants.
3) Floating processes (fat removal) increase the rate of rise of fat particles called CPI packing.
4) Clarification processes increase the sedimentation rate of suspended particles, this type of packing or lamellae.
Suspended Packing Media – Floating Packing Media
The MBBR (Mixed Bed Biological Reactor) process is one of the new wastewater treatment processes. This process is one of the modifications of the activated sludge process and is very similar to the extensive aeration process. The difference between this process and other aerobic processes is the use of biological growth media (Packing Media) in the aeration tank. Floating packing media increases the level of the aeration tank, which reduces the size of the aeration tank and thus reduces the cost of manufacturing the package. The company manufactures all kinds of suspended media packages at various special levels. These packages, with the high growth potential of micro-organisms on it and their high purity, have a superior advantage over the foreign species.
Suspended Packing Media from Farab Zist Faraz Company are manufactured using the best raw materials of PP or PVC for wastewater treatment purposes. These packages are manufactured on a variety of special levels, both fixed and suspended. Packing Media Floats are fully resistant to impact, abrasion and ultraviolet light. Suspended media are fully washable and have high self-purification capability.
Use of Floating Packing Media
The use of these packings as well as the air injected through the diffusers used in the aeration tank in the filtration system performs the removal of organic matter. The growth of micro-organisms on this type of substrate increases the level of micro-organisms’ contact with sewage. As a result, it increases the efficiency of the wastewater treatment process. Also, the special level of packing media reduces the volume and size of the aeration tank and ultimately reduces the total size of the package.
Other applications of floating packing media include upgrading and refining operating sewage treatment systems. This would be possible without the construction of new sections. In the treatment of sanitary and industrial wastewater, suspended media act as filler bed.
The benefits of floating packing media:
- Use of high quality raw materials
- Special level 500 to 700
- High growth potential of microorganisms
- Self-purification capability
- No need to wash or replace due to clogging
- High abrasion resistance
- High resistance to sunlight
- Very reasonable price against foreign sample
- High quality construction
